summer sucks

POTC3 Will Turner
Ugh, it's hot, it's humid (for Denver... 60%), and my back is out. I know it's muscles, but that doesn't offer a solution. I'm okay when sitting down or standing up, but going between the two is pure hell. I'm experimenting with OTC painkillers, but none of them seem to help. Aleve, Advil, Tylenol, aspirin... why did I throw out my unused Vicodin prescription? I never had pain from the surgical procedure that it was prescribed for, so I tossed it when it reached expiration. Never took a single one. Same thing with the Valium sent to me by Mom a few years ago.

I can't wait to finish this temp job. As you might guess, answering phones, running errands, filing things etc. is NOT helping my back.

Just saw a stupid movie called "Big Trouble" on Comedy Central. Loads of character actors from other things: a teenage Trillian from the "Hitchhiker's Guide" movie, the guy who played "The Tick" on the short-lived TV show, Tim Allen... you get the idea. Every scene has another familiar person that you can't quite place. It makes me think of "Yellowbeard", which starred several "Monty Python" alums, Marty Feldman, and David Bowie (as a shark). Bad movie, but fun for playing "Name That Actor".

I hate to be the one to tell you this....but
Studies have shown valium is really the only thing that helps relax muscles. even TWO YEARS after the expiration date, medicine can STILL be used-even MODERN DAY tetracycline (the old stuff it would have been dangerous to use after the exp. date). Also, it usually takes TIME to help back pain-something the McDonald generation can't handle being told by doctors. Usually 6 weeks. That temp job is prob. the source of it. I had the same problem the ONLY summer I did a desk/temp type job. excruciating pain for 6 weeks not helped by otc meds. Here's a "otc" tip that'll help: take 800 mg of motrin three times a day with MEALS. it'll help more than anything else you're doing. people REALLY underestimate the power of vitamin m! ;)
hope this helps.
back to my regularly scheduled job,
Brenda

really old Valium
I think Mom's prescriptions are WAY past expiration. She gave a Valium to Scott for back pain over the summer, and he felt no effects at all. Knowing Mom, that could be a pill from 1980.
